2. The seminar is convened by the Judiciary of the Hong Kong SAR, together with the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Supreme Court of Singapore. The Seminar provides a forum for judges to exchange ideas and share experience in relation to best practices in the management of commercial and corporate litigation. It also facilitates mutual understanding in matters relating to cross-border commercial activities.

3. This year’s Seminar covered topics including cross border insolvency, the legal effect ofillegality on civil transactions including foreign illegality, legal issues raised by cryptocurrencies, expert evidence, and case and listing management in commercial cases. 

4. The Seminar was attended by the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal of Hong Kong SAR, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Singapore together with judges and judicial officers from Australia Federal Court and Supreme Court of New South  Wales, Brunei Darussalam, People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Singapore. The Seminar’s Welcome Dinner was hosted by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR, Mr. John Lee Ka-chiu.

5. Also in attendance at the Seminar was the Acting Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Hajah Hazarena binti POKSJ DP Haji Hurairah, together with senior judicial officers from the Supreme Court.

6. Prior to the Seminar, The Honourable Chief Justice, Acting Chief Registrar and the delegation from the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam held a meeting with the Registrar of the Court of Final Appeal (CFA) of Hong Kong SAR, Mr. Wong King Wah. Fruitful discussions were held on managing appeals in the CFA.
