1. On Friday 8 November 2024, The Honourable Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
of Brunei Darussalam Dato Seri Paduka Steven Chong and a delegation from the
Judiciary of Brunei Darussalam made a visit to the Palace of Justice in Lima, the
seat of the Supreme Court of Justice of Peru.
2. The Chief Justice was met by Dr. Manuel Estuardo Lujan Túpez, Justice of the
Supreme Court of Justice of Peru, Dr. Pedro Angulo Arana, Chief of Cabinet of
Advisors of the Presidency of the Supreme Court of Justice of Peru, and Mrs.
Mariela Pinto Rocha, Head of the Office of International Cooperation.
3. During the visit, the Chief Justice held a bilateral meeting with representatives from
the Peruvian Judiciary and discussed the forthcoming signing of the MOU between
the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam and the Judicial Branch of the Republic
of Peru and areas of possible cooperation, including court technology, alternative
dispute resolution and judicial education and training.
4. Present at the visit and meeting was the Acting Chief Registrar of the Supreme
Court of Brunei Darussalam Hjh Hazarena binti POKSJ DP Hj Hurairah and the
delegation from the Judiciary of Brunei Darussalam.
