1. The Honourable Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam, Dato Seri Paduka Steven Chong made an official visit to the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn on Tuesday 30 September 2025.

2. The Chief Justice was accompanied by a delegation comprising of Intermediate Court Judge Pengiran Masni binti Haji Bahar and Senior Registrar Hajah Noor Amalina binti Dato Paduka Haji Alaihuddin.
3. During the visit, the Chief Justice and delegation were received by the Treasurer of Lincoln’s Inn, The Hon. Sir Paul Morgan and Under Treasurer of Lincoln’s Inn, Emma Hopkins OBE and Senior Benchers of the Inn. The Chief Justice was also received by the Master of the Rolls, The Right Honourable Sir Geoffrey Vos, who was Treasurer of Lincoln's Inn for 2023.

4. The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on the longstanding ties between Brunei Darussalam’s legal fraternity with Lincoln’s Inn, noting that many members of the judiciary and legal profession were called to the Bar at the Inn including the Chief Justice himself in 1982.
5. During the meeting, the Chief Justice affirmed Brunei Darussalam’s commitment to preserving and nurturing its professional ties with Lincoln’s Inn and the high standards of advocacy and ethics instilled at the Inn which continue to shape Brunei Darussalam’s legal profession today.
6. The Chief Justice expressed his interest to collaborate with Lincoln’s Inn to nurture the next generation of advocates as Bruneian law students continue to choose the Bar as a route to practice in Brunei Darussalam.
7. The Chief Justice discussed avenues for future cooperation, including opportunities for continuing professional development for Bruneian advocates through advocacy training and support for strengthening ethical and professional standards within the Brunei legal fraternity.
