By command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, hereby announces that His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to appoint Justice Dato Paduka Haji Hairol Arni bin Haji Abdul Majid, High Court Judge as the Attorney General effective from Thursday, 27th of Zulkaedah 1439 corresponding to 9th of August 2018.
Attorney General Dato Paduka Haji Hairol Arni bin Haji Abdul Majid assumes office from the former Attorney General Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Hayati binti Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Salleh, who served as Attorney General since 2009.
Attorney General Dato Paduka Haji Hairol Arni bin Haji Abdul Majid began his career as a Counsel at the Attorney General's Chambers, then was appointed as Deputy Public Prosecutor in 1989. He was appointed as Magistrate of the Supreme Court in 1994, rising the ranks as Chief Magistrate in 1999 and then as Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court in 2002. He was eventually elevated to the High Court bench in 2008.
