Structure of the civil courts of Brunei Darussalam

Brunei Darussalam’s civil judiciary is made up as follows:

Supreme Court
Hears civil cases and criminal cases.

Consists of the:

  • Court of Appeal
  • High Court

Intermediate Court
Hears civil cases, criminal cases and commercial cases.

Subordinate Court
Hears civil cases, criminal cases, road traffic offences, small claims and cases involving youths.

Consists of the:

  • Magistrates’ Court
  • Coroner Court
  • Juvenile Court
  • Small Claims Tribunal
